Inbound Email Issues (@pobox.co.uk) PDF Print E-mail

Today we experienced issues with inbound email addressed to our 'pobox.co.uk' domain. This appears to be related to a DNS issue from earlier in the week. The issue will have manifested itself with emails either arriving late or being bounced to the senders. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Just a quick note to advise that DNS administration has been added to the Billing Administration Tool and is currently undergoing testing. It will be offered to everyone once the testing has been completed.

** 17/09/14 ** Following an issue with inbound email further testing is scheduled for 20th/21st September **

Kind regards

There have been issues reported when connecting to our Email service for IMAP from iPhones, iPads and iPods. It would appear that issues with IOS6 and IOS7 connecting to IMAP mail servers are widely reported and the fix is to recreate the connection. We're investigating this further but until something is found the steps to create a connection are detailed as follows:i

If you are using IMAP (which is the default) then please remove and recreate the email connection.

[Settings --> Mail, Contacts, Calendars]

[Select account >]

Delete Account

[Add Account --> Other]

[Add Mail Account >]

Name: <your name>

Email: <your email address>

Password: <your mailbox password>

Description: <Description>

INCOMING MAIL SERVER

Host Name: imap.pobox.co.uk

Password: <your password>

OUTGOING MAIL SERVER

Host Name: smtp.pobox.co.uk

Username: <your email address>

Password: <your password>

(Your device should say checking and will present ticks against the items)

Encrypted Email Connections from Mobile Phones PDF Print E-mail
Written by Mick

A number of people have expressed concerns that Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod and Mac) and some other mobile devices complained about the security settings.

I have now uploaded configuration and certificates to our Mailbox and SMTP mail servers which enables this capability.

Please ensure you are using the following settings:

IMAP

Server address: imap.pobox.co.uk

Tick 'use SSL', select 'STARTTLS' or select 'SSL/TLS' dependent on the device you are using;

Please leave the default port if this is displayed.

Please also use your email address and mailbox password for the login details.

SMTP

Server address: smtp.pobox.co.uk

Tick 'use SSL', select 'STARTTLS' dependant on the device you are using;

Please lave the default port if this is displayed.

Please also use your email address and mailbox password for the login details (or tick the box to achieve this if the option is give).

Note: for Apple devices unless you ask it will attempt to do this anyway; some other mail clients will require this.

Have fun

Mick
